On this site, my goal is to freely share some of the lessons I have learned in the first 25 years of my career in restaurants. Wow, it really has already been 25 years. 25 years in the books, and at least another 25 to come. My primary intended audience for this content is the talented team of people I have the pleasure of working with everyday. As my business has grown, I no longer get as much day to day face time with everyone as I would like. Personal interaction has always been the backbone of my management style. I was never happier then when my closest lieutenants used to refer to me as coach. This site will be an attempt to “coach the team” and let them know what I feel is important in any restaurant.
Although originally, I conceived this site to be only for my organization, I soon took inspiration from the inimitable Gary Vee and decided to share these thoughts with the world at large. Now that I am sharing this with the public, I hope I can provide some value to anyone with an interest in restaurant management the restaurant business or management in general.
Make no mistakes, I don’t think I have all of the answers, or the only answer. Much of what I talk about is easy to say and tremendously hard to pull off in a real life. This challenge is where so much of the fun begins. I hope you enjoy what I have to say, please comment, share or reach out as you see fit!
Cheers! -Rob G
